Computer Architecture

Cross-disciplinary Connections

The computer architecture and design class that I took had many cross-disciplinary connections to other courses that I was taking. For example, in my electrical engineering course, we were learning about the different components of electronic circuits, and the computer architecture class gave me a deeper understanding of how these components are used in computers. In my physics course, we were learning about the laws of thermodynamics, and the computer architecture class gave me a way to apply these laws to the design of computer systems.

Broader Applicability

The knowledge and skills that I learned in the computer architecture class have a wide range of applications outside of school. For example, I could use my knowledge of computer architecture to design and build my own computer, or I could use my skills to develop software for embedded systems. I could also use my knowledge of computer architecture to work in the field of cybersecurity.

Personal Life Connection

The plant care system that I created for my final project in the computer architecture class has had a positive impact on my personal life. I have always been interested in plants, but I never had the time or patience to take care of them. The plant care system that I created has made it much easier for me to keep my plants alive, and I have really enjoyed watching them grow.

Students as Learners

I learned a lot about myself as a learner in the computer architecture class. I learned that I am good at problem-solving and that I am persistent when I encounter challenges. I also learned that I am more creative than I thought I was. I am proud of the progress I made in the class, and I am excited to continue learning and growing as a computer architect.

I have also taken up electronics making as a hobby since taking the class. I enjoy the challenge of designing and building electronic circuits, and I am always learning new things. I have made a variety of projects, including a robot, a weather station, and a security system. I am planning to continue making electronics projects in the future.

Signature Assignments

The process of creating my plant care system was challenging but rewarding. I started by doing some research on different plant care systems that were available online. I then designed my own system based on the features that I wanted it to have. I had to learn how to use a variety of electronic components, including sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers. I also had to learn how to program the microcontroller to control the system.

I faced a few challenges along the way. I had to troubleshoot some problems with the hardware and software. I also had to make some changes to the design of the system based on my testing. However, I was able to overcome these challenges and successfully create a plant care system that I am proud of.

I am glad that I took the computer architecture and design class. It has given me the knowledge and skills that I need to design and build my own electronic systems. I am also excited to continue learning about computer architecture and to apply my knowledge to new projects.
