Connections Between Lifelong Wellness (LW) and Other Courses

This LW course has shed new light on concepts I previously encountered in biology, which focused on how life works. In biology, we learned about the importance of cardiovascular exercise for heart health. The LW course built upon this knowledge by emphasizing the positive impact of exercise on mental well-being and physical health through activities like jogging, walking, and cardio. This connection helped me understand how a holistic approach to fitness considers both physical and mental health.

Enhanced Learning

Understanding the mind-body connection from LW deepened my appreciation for the detailed physiological explanations of exercise in biology. Conversely, the specific exercises learned in high school physical education provided practical applications for the general fitness principles emphasized in Lifelong Wellness. This two-way learning process made the information more comprehensive and actionable.

Shifting Perspectives on Fitness and Wellness

Before this course, my view of fitness was primarily focused on achieving a certain physique. LW introduced the concept of lifelong wellness, which encompasses a broader range of practices for overall well-being. Activities like stress management techniques and healthy sleep habits, covered in LW, broadened my understanding of how various aspects contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Influential Assignments and Activities

The attendance exercise assignment in LW was particularly impactful. It forced me to consider my individual needs and goals beyond just physical fitness. By incorporating strategies for managing stress and improving sleep, the plan helped me recognize the interconnectedness of various wellness elements.

Future Approach

Moving forward, I plan to approach fitness with a more holistic perspective. I'll prioritize activities I enjoy, like walking, alongside maintaining a balanced diet and getting adequate sleep. This comprehensive approach, influenced by the LW course, will hopefully lead to a more sustainable and fulfilling wellness journey.
